I did these short pieces in response
to some awful haiku I would read quite regularly in one of our newspapers. The
newspaper preferred short stuff to squeeze in between big articles of opinion.
I was told to maybe shorten my verse if I wanted to get into the paper more
regularly. I think my political/religious touchpoints were the issue really.
